(English) Basic Seminar: Leading with Excellence. Leading in Research.

Ethical Leadership: Combining a Culture of Excellence and Appreciation

This basic seminar is aimed at habilitation candidates and postdocs.

The goal

To achieve scientific excellence, we are convinced that excellent leadership is needed which means to not only lead by example but also ethically and responsibly. Guided by this understanding, you will receive suggestions in the form of scientific theories and practical tools for excellent leadership and collaboration in your team.

The guiding questions

  • How do I know if I am a good leader?
  • How do I combine top performance with human dignity?
  • How do I promote cooperation in a heterogeneous team?
  • How do I motivate my employees?

The implementation

In this basic seminar, you will receive an overview of the most important theories and models of professional employee leadership and learn helpful techniques that you can use in your daily dealings with your employees and in critical situations. In addition, we will introduce you to the most important theories and methods of teamwork and communication. We will focus on how to successfully deal with conflicts and how to effectively use diversity in the team.

Instructors

Dr. Angela Kuonath is a psychologist and trainer. After completing her doctorate at the University of Konstanz in the field of work and organizational psychology, she initially headed the “Multiplikatoren-Programm” (Lehre@LMU) from 2013 onwards, which was associated to the Center for Leadership and People Management from 2012 to 2020 and supported LMU lecturers in implementing self-selected projects to improve teaching at their faculties. Since 2017, she has been working at the Center for Leadership and People Management (since 2022 with deputy leadership position), especially in the field of research and research supervision on the topics of leadership, self-regulation and emotion regulation. Her focus in personnel and organizational development is on leadership and health in the workplace.

Dr. Janina Mundt has been working in a start-up since 2018 and develops digital tools for implementing learning and change processes in organizations. After studying psychology, she worked for many years at the LMU Center for Leadership and People Management, where she completed her doctorate in 2017. Her research and training focuses on teaching, learning and leadership. She also works as a freelance trainer and consultant.

Please note: Participation in Part 1 and Part 2 is mandatory. Please register for both parts of the seminar.
