(English) Basic Seminar: Leading with Excellence. Leading in Research.

Ethical Leadership: Combining a Culture of Excellence and Appreciation

The goal

Our basic understanding is to promote scientific excellence through excellent leadership and collaboration. In this seminar, you will gain an overview of the basic principles, i.e. both theoretical approaches and practical tools, of effective leadership, teamwork, conflict resolution and self-reflection.

The guiding questions

  • How do I lead myself, my employees, and my manager?
  • How can we work together effectively as a team and resolve conflicts constructively?
  • How do we create a culture of excellence in our work unit?
  • What motivates me and how do I motivate my employees and colleagues?

The implementation

In this seminar, you will receive an overview of the most important theories and models of professional employee leadership. You will learn helpful techniques that you can use in your daily interactions with your employees and in critical situations. In addition, we will introduce you to the most important theories and methods of teamwork and communication. We will focus on how to successfully deal with conflicts and how to effectively use diversity in the team.

In both parts of the event, we combine theoretical concepts with concrete practical tips. You will also have the opportunity to share your individual experiences in a practical discussion. This moderated discussion should make it easier for you to transfer the theoretical content you have learned into your everyday working life. You will explicitly benefit from the diversity of perspectives that results from the exchange with scientists from a wide range of disciplines.

We recommend that you attend this course first before attending our more in-depth courses that are of particular relevance to you.
