Topic 1: The Role of Future Work Self in Career Adaptability (in English)

Future work self has been considered as the motivational force behind engaging in proactive career behaviors. Indeed, Future Work Self salience has been shown to influence career-related behaviors and aspirations, like networking or proactive skill development. The goal of the Master Thesis project is to conduct a meta-analysis to investigate the supplementary role of Future Work Self salience (next to other career adaptability constructs) in predicting career development and relevant career outcomes.

In your Master Thesis project, you will collaborate closely with a research team comprising two to four researchers. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing of a research question that can be addressed within the meta-analysis framework.
  • Coding of the collected study data.
  • Contributing to the documentation and publishing of the meta-analysis in a reputable scientific journal.

The student will be named as a co-author if the collaboration is successful. We also assure support should there be an interest in continuing to work in research.

Prospective candidates with a keen interest in career development and proactive career behavior, demonstrated ability for independent work and team collaboration, proficiency in English, and commitment to open science practices are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of R for conducting meta-analytic modeling and data analysis would be beneficial.

Please contact Dr. Anne-Kathrin Kleine (anne-kathrin.kleine@psy.lmu.de) if you are interested or require further information.

We look forward to working with you!
